Best ManyChat Alternatives

ManyChat still owns comment-to-DM automation on Instagram better than anyone in this category, but the March 2026 pricing overhaul is the real reason people go looking elsewhere: the free tier dropped from 1,000 contacts down to just 25, and per-contact overage fees ($0.10/contact on Essential, $0.05/contact on Pro, $0.025/contact on Business) have Reddit threads describing bills growing 2-3x as contact lists scale. That pricing shift is reflected directly in our own scorecard — ManyChat's Pricing Value score (2/5) is the lowest of any tool reviewed on this site — and it compounds with a channel gap that was already there: no native email helpdesk, ticketing, or voice channel, just Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS, and email broadcast. If the new contact-based math changed your calculus, here's what to look at instead.

Crisp swaps ManyChat's per-contact billing model for per-workspace pricing entirely, which is the single biggest relief if overage fees are what pushed you here — Mini starts at $45/mo for 4 seats with no contact-count exposure, and even the free tier (2 seats) has no equivalent to ManyChat's harsh 25-contact ceiling. Channel coverage actually overlaps closely: Crisp bundles WhatsApp, Instagram DM, and Facebook Messenger, the same three channels ManyChat specializes in, but adds a real website chat widget, email, SMS, and a shared team inbox that ManyChat's flow-builder model doesn't really have.

Where ManyChat is purpose-built for marketing automation (comment-to-DM, Story mention triggers, broadcast campaigns), Crisp is purpose-built for support — its AI chatbot draws from a dollar-denominated credit pool ($25 of credits, ~450 conversations, on the $95/mo Essentials tier) rather than ManyChat's contact-based automation, and it includes a knowledge base and workflow automation from the Essentials tier upward that ManyChat doesn't offer in the same shape. The honest trade: you lose ManyChat's best feature outright — there's no Crisp equivalent to comment-to-DM automation turning Instagram engagement directly into conversations — so if lead generation from social engagement is your core use case, this isn't a clean swap.

Crisp is the better fit if what you actually need is a support inbox that happens to cover WhatsApp and Instagram, not a growth engine built around them.

Heyy covers the same core channels ManyChat specializes in — WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger — plus Web Chat and SMS, but it's built around a full AI agent model rather than ManyChat's visual flow-builder, which matters if your actual problem is support conversations rather than marketing funnels. The key structural difference is what the AI is allowed to do: Heyy's attribute-permission system (Read, Share, Update) lets an AI Employee capture and write contact data mid-conversation with explicit per-field permissioning, a more support-oriented capability than ManyChat's tag-and-segment approach to contact management.

Heyy also sidesteps the exact pricing model that's currently frustrating ManyChat users — its plan tiers (Hobby, Pro, Ultra, Enterprise) are gated by AI Employee count, knowledge storage, and action limits rather than contact volume, so there's no per-contact overage math to worry about as your audience grows, though pricing itself isn't publicly documented and requires a sales conversation to pin down. Custom API actions let a Heyy employee look up order status or account data live mid-conversation, a different capability than ManyChat's flow-triggered messaging.

The honest gap is that there's no independent review base yet on G2, Capterra, or Trustpilot to check these claims against, unlike ManyChat's well-established review history, and Heyy has nothing resembling ManyChat's signature comment-to-DM growth mechanic.

Reasonable pick if you're outgrowing ManyChat because you need a genuine support agent rather than better marketing flows; not a fit if comment-to-DM lead generation is still the actual job.
